DiRT.Rally Release was announced by Codemasters, the official developer of the game at their 2009 press conference in Barcelona on February 13th, 2009. In addition to DiRT 2, two other video games based on rally racing were also announced: DiRT 3 and DiRT Showdown which were released in 2010 and 2011 respectively. Codemasters announced that the game would be released in the United States, Europe and Australia on March 3, 2009. In Australia it was released on March 4, 2009. In North America it was released on March 5, 2009. In Europe it was released on March 6, 2009. The demo version should only be used to try out the driving part because there is no tutorial or time trial mode in it. It also should not be used for multiplayer purposes as there will not be any players online.The DiRT.Rally takes place all around the world where you can race your way through 200 events and over 50 challenges, including Rally, Rallycross and Hill Climb races as well as special events such as Destruction Derbies and Drifting competitions. In addition to the single player mode, the game also features an online mode which allows you to compete against other players from around the world in a range of events. Many of these events are variations on those found in the single player mode. There are numerous cars available in DiRT.Rally which you can choose from when creating a driver profile in Career Mode. You can either choose a pre-set profile or create your own by choosing a name, nationality and class for your car from a long list of choices.
